THE ART OF FACE READING

mounteverest

Face reading is an ancient science that dates back thousands of years, and in many cultures, it was used to determine someone’s personality and practised by doctors to diagnose illness. So I was excited when I heard that world-renowned face-reading expert, Eric Standop would be visiting the Talise Spa in Dubai. Eric can interpret your character and fate, using several techniques including Siang Mien (a Chinese face reading discipline) and micro expressions (brief involuntary expressions displaying various emotions). The former entrepreneur, who lives between Zurich and Munich, travels the world giving his clients advice when it comes to love, career, health and the purpose of their life. In my 60-minute face-to-face reading with him, he told me the following: The shape and structure of my face is the tree face. This means I’m in harmony with nature, have a desire to protect the earth and be peaceful. Tree faces are inventive and enjoy the company of others. Eric also sees elements of fire in my face. A fire face (think a wide forehead and high cheek bones) is someone who is passionate, sensitive and a quick learner. Meanwhile the dimple on my chin denotes that I have trust issues so while I’m a harmony seeker I need to be careful not to burn the wood.

Apparently the shape of my eyes and ears suggest I’m a freedom-loving person who enjoys change and has a never-ending curiosity about life (which is spot on and makes my career as a journalist ideal). My pupils suggest that I’m a creative daydreamer (teachers often told me this at school) with a big heart and occasionally have visions of the future. With regards to work, I’m interested in creating something meaningful and long lasting.

When it comes to love, Eric notes that I’m attracted to dynamic, physically strong men although while I give 100 per cent to my partner, he remarks that I only seem to get 60 per cent in return. He tells me that in past relationships, I’ve been in too many rollercoaster relationships (you could say that) and I’m best suited to a stable, grounded, open-minded man. In short, the next two years are critical for me and I should opt for harmony rather than a high-octane affair.

Lastly, Eric points out that my eyes aren’t shining. In his words he tells me, “You have a Ferrari in your garage but you’re not using it. At the moment, you’re driving around in a Mazda.” I wish I had a Ferrari in the garage I joke, but of course, Eric has another valid point – I’m not yet fulfilling my potential. Overall, he was uncannily accurate, nailed my personality and has given me food for thought about my future decisions.

Eric Standop is giving face readings at Talise Spa, Madinat Jumeirah until January 9. To book call 04 366 6818 or email mjtalise@jumeirah.com or go to www.readtheface.com
