Hypnotherapy

WHAT IS CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY?
Hypnosis has existed as a healing modality throughout human history. Indigenous people have known about the benefits of trance for thousands of years. Despite all the evidence supporting the effectiveness of hypnosis, it is still the most misunderstood of all the complimentary therapies. The myths surrounding hypnotherapy mostly stem from people’s ideas about stage hypnotism. The truth is stage hypnotism is a theatrical act and has little in common with the genuine healing power of clinical hypnosis.

Myth: Not everyone can be hypnotised
Truth: Anyone who has a desire to be hypnotised can be.

Myth: Hypnotherapy is like a truth serum
Truth: In hypnosis, you maintain your selective thinking mind and so you don’t act outside your ethical code of conduct. As a co-therapist, your senses are heightened, so you are actually more aware, not less.

Myth: Strong willed, analytical people will struggle with hypnotherapy
Truth: Creative, intelligent people (who desire change) often find it easy to go into hypnosis.

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE BEING IN HYPNOSIS?
Many people compare hypnosis to feeling deeply relaxed. In this natural state of deep relaxation, your mind is able to let go of self-limiting beliefs (stored in our sub-conscious) so you are open to positive ideas that are in alignment with what you wish to heal and what goals you desire.

WHAT CAN MEDICAL HYPNOTHERAPY HELP WITH?

Creating new positive habits

Quitting smoking

Achieving your ideal body weight

Overcoming fears and phobias

Healing insomnia

How many sessions will it take?
People are always looking for a magical quick fix. This is not realistic and if hypnotherapists promise you something in just one session, be wary. While clients often see progress after the first session, to achieve sustainable goals, four to eight sessions is best.
