The pose: Crow (aka bakasana)

The location: Dubai, UAE

The benefits: Not only does this balancing posture strengthen your hands, wrists and shoulders, it really engages your core. The crow teaches you how to trust, let go and once you master this pose, you feel incredibly strong and empowered.

 

*When did your yoga journey begin?
About 16 years ago when I was working in a stressful job in London. I remember realizing that I desperately needed some balance in my life. After my yoga classes, I used to feel like I floating around on a cloud and that feeling became addictive! Four years ago, I qualified as a Vinyasa Flow Yoga teacher.

*How has yoga transformed your life?
I have made great friends through yoga and travelled to wonderful places to practice. I like to think I’m more aware now, and able to detach myself from thoughts that make me anxious. I love the fact that it is a life long journey and there is no end – a continual physical and mental evolution!

*Besides yoga, what are your passions?
Meeting like-minded people and travelling to new places. I also love dance, everything from ceroc and ballet to contemporary dance.

*What’s your mantra in life?
Anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

*Tell us about your future dreams…
To run yoga retreats all over the world and help people to feel good about themselves. I’d also like to build a home by the sea and share my life with my soul mate and a dog.
