THINGS I LOVE THURSDAYS

Sarah Bladen

*Happy New Year! How’s 2015 treating you so far? So, those who know me from my days living in London, will recall my passion for dancing! However, I never dreamed though that I would take a dance course, but since September I’ve immersed myself in a freestyle dance practice called Chakradance. And this week, I qualified as a Chakradance practitioner. I’m so excited about this new direction my life it taking and I can’t wait to share this dance practice for the soul with you. I’ll be announcing my workshop dates soon.

*Last Friday I was down at the Full Moon Yogafest (organized by the lovely Elaine). After a fabulous Yin Yoga session (led by talented Liz Terry), I led a Chakra Breathing Meditation. With the backdrop of the fountains, birds singing and the moon emerging in the sky, it was a gorgeous setting. Who says Dubai has no soul?! I’m looking forward to the next Full Moon session on January 16th – my friend Pewee Sanchez will be leading it. To book go to www.yogafest.me

*While I’m in love with the desserts at Comptoir 102 (have you tried their sugar-free chocolate mousse?) I now have a new healthy eating crush – Omnia Gourmet. Located inside an Arabic-style souk, you can also dine al fresco, overlooking the Jumeirah Fishing Harbour. It’s a super peaceful little corner of Dubai – no cranes or building works in this vista! Packed with fresh, locally-sourced organic ingredients, thanks to the celebrity chef Silvena Rowe, there are lots of decadent dishes (raw, sugar-free and gluten-free) to choose from. I highly recommend the Avocado, Sugar Snaps and organic Chickpeas in Za’atar Pesto dressing and Chia seeds. For more info go to www.omniagourmet.co

*I’m fascinated by Past Life Regression (a hypnosis technique used by practitioners to unlock memories of past lives), which is described in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali as the idea of the soul becoming burdened with an accumulation of impressions of karma from past lives. Patanjali called the process prati-prasav (which literally means ‘reverse birthing’). Anyway, I’m keen to try it so if you’re an expert in this field, and would like me to review it, please get in touch.

*This week, my Swedish friend came to stay with me and after a hectic 2014 she was after some Dubai-style pampering, so we headed to the Ottoman Talise Spa at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray. While I almost drifted off into the land of nod during the traditional Turkish hammam, my friend was equally enamoured with the coffee scrub hammam – both were superbly blissful. Possibly the best hammam treatment I’ve ever tried. We also spent some time in the snow room (oops, not sure how eco-friendly that is!), the steam room and the sauna and then lounged on cushions in the magical Arabian room featuring a huge inviting Jacuzzi. To book go to www.jumeirah.com

*At the moment, I’m mostly taking on private clients for Zen Meditation & Mindfulness, however, I do teach one group meditation session per week, at NYLA House, every Tuesday at 8.30pm. To book a place, go to www.nylamethod.com. Expect candles, incense, music and nothing but love.

Hope to see you soon,

Sarah signature
